MyCumulus is a professional data collection application developed by MyCumulus bv, used by customers active in surveying, infrastructure, and GIS data collection. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles the permissions it requests and the data it processes.

Google Play disclosure: This app collects and processes precise location data, including in the background, to enable professional surveying/GNSS features. Location data is uploaded to the customer's MyCumulus server and is not used by MyCumulus bv for any other purpose.

Data We Collect and How We Use It

Location (Foreground and Background)

Permissions: ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION, ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATION

What we collect: Precise GNSS/GPS location and related telemetry. Location may be accessed while the app is in use and, when enabled by the customer, while running in the background.
Why we collect it: To support professional surveying/GIS workflows, enable real‑time processing, and allow other authorized customer devices to retrieve position data.
How we handle it: Location data is uploaded to the customer's MyCumulus server account and is accessible only to that customer through the back office. MyCumulus bv does not use this data for any other purpose and does not share it with third parties.

Camera, Photos, Videos & Audio

Permissions: CAMERA, RECORD_AUDIO, ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION

What we collect: Photos, videos, and (where applicable) audio captured within MyCumulus forms; media metadata (including geotags) when available and necessary for the workflow.
Why we collect it: To attach visual/audio evidence to surveyed records and improve the quality and traceability of field data.
How we handle it: Media is uploaded to the customer's MyCumulus server and remains accessible only to that customer. MyCumulus bv does not use or share this media.

Bluetooth & External Devices

Permissions: BLUETOOTH_SCAN, BLUETOOTH_CONNECT

What we collect: Connection information and data exchanged with professional devices such as GNSS receivers, thermometers, underground scanners, and distance meters.
Why we collect it: To enable accurate positioning and sensor‑assisted data collection.
How we handle it: Data is used solely to communicate with the paired device for the intended feature and is not otherwise stored or shared by MyCumulus bv unless uploaded as part of the customer’s dataset.

Network, Sync & Notifications

Permissions: INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_NETWORK_STATE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC, POST_NOTIFICATIONS

Purpose: To sync survey data with the MyCumulus server, manage reliable foreground services for data capture/sync, and inform users about status or required actions.

Data Sharing

All collected data (location, media, and sensor inputs) is stored on the MyCumulus server.
MyCumulus bv does not use, analyze, sell, or share this data with third parties.
Access to the data is strictly limited to the customer and their authorized users.

User Choice and Opt‑Out

Users can deny or revoke permissions (e.g., location, camera, microphone, Bluetooth) via the device settings.
The app will continue to operate with limited functionality when specific permissions are denied. Full surveying/GIS capabilities require location and, where applicable, Bluetooth access.

Security

Data transmitted between the app and the MyCumulus server is protected using encryption in transit.
Customers control access to their data stored on the server (role‑based access where configured).

Role of Parties

For datasets collected and managed within a customer’s MyCumulus environment, the customer typically acts as the data controller and MyCumulus bv acts as a data processor on the customer's behalf. MyCumulus bv processes data only to provide the contracted service and according to the customer’s instructions.

Retention

Data is retained in the customer’s MyCumulus environment according to the customer’s settings and policies. Customers can delete data at any time via the back office or their standard processes.

Target Audience

MyCumulus is intended for professional users in surveying, infrastructure, and GIS data collection. It is not designed for nor targeted at children.

Changes to This Policy
